2018 Commercial Building ENERGY STAR Due Dates

2018 has been an "interesting" year for Commercial Building ENERGY STARS! The deadline to earn 2018 certification is November 15, 2018.

However, the EPA is updating the ENERGY STAR scores in August 2018. The EPA recommends that you apply for certification by July 26, 2018 (which probably means applying with a "Year Ending Date" of April 30 to have enough time to gather all energy bills and complete the certification process).

Applications submitted:

• * By July 26, 2018 will be guaranteed 2018 certification using the pre-update score as long as they do not require significant follow-up or changes.
• * July 27 - August 25 may be evaluated using the updated score models, especially if significant follow-up or changes to the application are required.
• * Starting August 27 all applications will be evaluated using the updated score models.
• * All buildings that earned 2017 ENERGY STAR certification will be eligible to apply for 2018 certification using a "Year Ending Date" of April 30, 2018 or earlier.
